Homestead Giveaway

Planning • Design Collaboration • Development

The Homestead Giveaway increased ticket presales over 150% from previous theatrical releases.

The Story

When this idea was first presented, I must admit that I was a little skeptical. It felt like a strange gimmick that wasn’t going to convert to real presales and ticket redemptions. That being said, I was very excited to build it because of the endless potential with the design and UI/UX.

The front-end had several different iterations, in part because of the wait to get the giveaway portion up and running. But this gave us plenty of time to learn and iterate on the design. This would give me a great chance to collaborate with our designer on the designs and the final product.

Through this journey I had several great learnings, including the power of Shopify, while we had our own payment flow, we tested integrating the final checkout page with Shopify and saw an increase of over 20% against our own checkout page. The campaign would be a huge success and win for Homestead as it had significant results compared to previous presales.

During this project, I was a part of the entire process from planning to delivery, including working on the front-end and our Elixir back-end service.

Final Takeaway

What does this all mean?

This project was a huge success! But the question remains—can it be replicated? I believe it absolutely can. One of the key takeaways was integrating elements that felt familiar to the user; directing them to a Shopify checkout page proved to be a significant advantage. The giveaway itself also played a crucial role in the project's success. By offering a weekly multiplier for early purchases and pairing that with an enticing prize, we created a campaign that was easy to market, close, and ultimately win!

Digital Collectibles

Planning • Design Collaboration • Development • Marketing • User Interviews

A unqiue product to the market, digitial collectibles integrated collectible frames and moments with our content and allowed customers to own the favorite moments.

The Story

What started off as a simple idea several years ago never fully got off the ground, but in one final effort to turn it into something the executive management assembled a team to give it their best and undivided attention.

The concept was simple, extract individual scenes and frames from digital content and offer customers ownership of specific scenes. The challenge. This had never been done before. The idea was based on the early days of animation, where each frame was a physical asset. But we were ultimately tasked with bring the concept to a modern and digital era.

My team I worked with was one of the rare high-performing teams I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of. Everyone came together with a common purpose and goal and we worked tirelessly together to get it done.

In the end the product was a phenomenal example of innovation, grit, and passion. As a team we took a product with $0 revenue to over $70,000 in revenue in just 90 days. We transformed the product from something dry and misunderstood, to a product that was engaging and treasured by customers.

Final Takeaway

What does this all mean?

The product was ultimately shut down to reallocate resources to more critical revenue streams within the organization. But the leasons of leading a purpose driven team will stay with me forever. My uniting around a common goal, and aligning our purpose the team acheived what no one thought we could. The project was a blast to work on and I got to work with some very talented people and work on all aspects of product I love.

Ecommerce Platform

Product Management • Design • Development • User Testing

A fully customized and feature rich, ecommerce platform that led to a more seemless customer experience.

The Story

If there was ever a project, I thought I couldn’t do, it was this one. The company I’d been with for nearly 4 years was coming to a critical point in their growth that the current system and website was no longer going to support the business, and we needed to act fast.

I was given an extremely tight deadline and only had a part-time (though excellent) intern at my disposal, but the directive was clear. Rebuild the existing website from the ground up and connect it to our new 3rd party commission engine.

While it was a daunting task to take on, and would require excessive hours, stress, and unforeseen obstacles I knew from the beginning, it would stretch me, but also force me to learn and grow more than I had at any other point in my career.

We launched just a few weeks past the original deadline, but the new website, would provide a much better customer experience, a full functioning custom built CMS, and integrate fully with our 3rd party provider for commissions and sales of the network marketing business structure.

TAGD

Co-Founder • Design Engineer • Non-Profit

Born out of an idea in 2013 TAGD is still under development, but remains a huge driver and passion for me.

The Story

In 2013, I uncovered one of my true purposes in life: not just to exist in the world, but to actively make it a better place. This realization was driven by my deep love for people and my desire to highlight and amplify the good that surrounds us every day.

It’s been a long journey, but over the past year, I’ve reignited this passion during my free time. I’ve designed the initial logo, built the website, and carefully defined its mission and purpose. In 2023, we reached an exciting milestone by achieving full 501(c)(3) status, officially operating as a non-profit organization. This is just the beginning of what I hope will be a lasting impact.

The mission of TAGD is to perpetually grow a community of kindness.

Our unique platform and relationships connect people in need with the resources they need to thrive. We then invite them into our community to connect to ways to give back and amplify their impact using their own passions and talents.

Pay It Forward

A/B Testing • Development

Completely reimagined the Pay It Forward flow and so significant increase in pay it forward growth.

The Story

Implementing A/B testing and refining the "Pay It Forward" flow significantly boosted giving rates by creating a more intuitive and engaging user experience. By testing variations in messaging, button placement, and giving display cards, we identified key elements that resonated with users, such as emphasizing emotional value and reducing friction.

Streamlining the flow further simplified the process, reducing steps and integrating familiar features like pre-filled suggestions and clear progress indicators. This made it easier for users to complete their contributions, significantly lowering drop-off rates.

The results were clear: enhanced user engagement and a noticeable increase in giving. These changes not only improved the functionality of the flow but also strengthened the sense of community and impact, proving the value of data-driven design and thoughtful optimization.
